Sew Clothes That Fit You Perfectly! An Introduction to Fitting

This 90 minute presentation will focus on making clothing that fits you. Elizabeth will discuss taking measurements, selecting patterns, and pattern alterations. The format is lecture and demo with plenty of time for questions. 

Both beginning and experienced garment sewists encounter difficulties fitting themselves. Learn to identify issues and to start tissue-fitting your patterns.  Format is lecture and demo with plenty of time for questions.

In this demonstration, participants will learn:

Why sewing patterns and ready-to-wear clothing don't fit.

How to measure themselves.

How to select patterns, and what to do if their measurements don't match the pattern envelope.

How to prepare patterns for alteration.

Instructor: Elizabeth Bryant
Instructor Bio: Elizabeth Vana Bryant is a Palmer/Pletsch Certified Fitting Instructor. She teaches in-person classes in Southern California, and virtual classes internationally through the magic of Zoom. She has been sewing for over 50 years, and has specialized in garment fitting and couture construction for over two decades. She is the founding leader of the American Sewing Guild Los Angeles Chapter's Couture Group.
