Fit & Sew a Button Front Blouse!

Elizabeth Bryant is back! Learn how to fit and sew a button front blouse, including how to choose the right pattern size, make alterations, and sew a variety of blouse construction techniques.

This course offers a deep dive that goes beyond following a pattern, but how to make that pattern actually fit YOUR body! The course will take place over two Saturdays. Get ready to sew and learn!

Students who have already taken the button front shirt class from Elizabeth are welcome to repeat the class using the woven top or dress pattern of their choosing (subject to instructor approval)

You’ll learn:

  • How to select an appropriate sized pattern

  • How to fit a top to your back, shoulders and bust – without gaping buttons!

  • How to manipulate, position and sew darts so they fit your figure

  • How to match patterns (where applicable)

  • How to fit and set in sleeves

  • How to bind armscyes of sleeveless shirts

  • How to make a smoothly finished facing

Equipment: Standard sewing machine and hand sewing supplies. Narrow edge sewing machine foot is strongly encouraged. Serger optional for finishing seams.

Skill Level - Intermediate: Sewists should be familiar with garment construction (straight of grain, pattern layout, seam allowances, stitching lines) and their sewing machines (know how to change needles, change feet, change stitch settings, and vary stitch widths/stitch lengths and use their machine’s buttonhole stitch.)

Class sizes are 4-10 students!
