Fit & Sew a Button Front Blouse!

Elizabeth Bryant is back! Learn how to fit and sew a button front blouse, including how to choose the right pattern size, make alterations, and sew a variety of blouse construction techniques.
This course offers a deep dive that goes beyond following a pattern, but how to make that pattern actually fit YOUR body! The course will take place over two Saturdays. Get ready to sew and learn!
You’ll learn:

How to select an appropriate sized pattern

How to fit a top to your back, shoulders and bust – without gaping buttons!

How to manipulate, position and sew darts so they fit your figure

How to match patterns (where applicable)

How to fit and set in sleeves
-
How to bind armscyes of sleeveless shirts
-
How to make a smoothly finished facing
Equipment: Standard sewing machine and hand sewing supplies. Narrow edge sewing machine foot is strongly encouraged. Serger optional for finishing seams.
Skill Level - Intermediate: Sewists should be familiar with garment construction (straight of grain, pattern layout, seam allowances, stitching lines) and their sewing machines (know how to change needles, change feet, change stitch settings, and vary stitch widths/stitch lengths and use their machine’s buttonhole stitch.)
Class sizes are 4-10 students!

She teaches in-person classes in Southern California, and virtual classes internationally through the magic of Zoom. She has been sewing for over 50 years, and has specialized in garment fitting and couture construction for over two decades. She is the founding leader of the American Sewing Guild Los Angeles Chapter's Couture Group. |
