Machine Embroidery Club: Easy "Eat Sleep Sew" Pin Cushion.

Wondering what you can do with your embroidery machine? Ever heard of "In The Hoop" projects? This technique allows you to make all sorts of projects with little to no sewing, right in your embroidery hoop!

To kick off our monthly machine embroidery club, we will be making this great pin cushion. Depending on the size of your hoop, you can make a pin cushion 4", 5", 6", or 7" square. We'll provide most of the materials besides fabric.

This club series is perfect for anyone who's interested in strengthening their machine embroidery skills or simply wants to meet some friends and have fun! Please make sure your machine is in working order prior to class start, there won't be time to service the machine during class.

Materials and equipment:
Two pieces of fabric for the front and back of the cushion, 2" larger on each side than the final piece. For example, for a 4" square cushion you need two pieces of fabric 6" square. Quilting cotton, denim, felt, and lightweight canvas all work great. Great way to use up your stash.

Curved embroidery or applique scissors.

New machine embroidery needles, size 75/11
Embroidery machine with hoop, at least as big as the cushion you want to make (4"x4" minimum), and one bobbin. The larger your hoop, the larger you can make your pin cushion.
USB stick for transferring your design.

We will provide the design, embroidery thread, bobbin thread, batting, stabilizer, and filling.

Instructor: Matt
Instructor Bio: Matt Eardley grew up here in Santa Barbara sewing on his mom's Bernina 1090, purchased from Grant back in the day! He's never met a craft he didn't like, specializing in fiber arts such as sewing, knitting, and weaving. After a brief detour to graduate school on the East Coast, Matt returned home to Santa Barbara to teach weaving at Adult Ed (now SBCC Extended Learning). He joined our team in 2020 to focus on machine sales and education. We love him!
