Holiday Placemats with Ruby



These easy placemats with self-mitered corners are ideal for your holiday table. Ruby will help you through the process, show you how to get perfect mitered corners, and give options for different interfacings and battings. Materials and equipment:

Sewing machine in good working order, ours or yours.

Fabrics for front and back of placemat: 1 yard of each makes a set of four, 1/2 yard for 2. 

Matching thread

Interfacing or low-loft batting, see store samples.

Pins

Sharp scissors

Optional:

Chalk, fabric pencils or pens

Rotary cutter and grid ruler

1/4" seam presser foot

Walking foot may be helpful for thicker batting
