Finishing Your Quilt with Bee Saunders

You've finished your quilt top, now what? In the first session, Bee will cover basting and quilting, and in the second session you'll learn how to make a hanging sleeve, do the binding, and even make a label! Thursday April 9 and 23, 10:30am - 1:30pm. Cost: $120. NOTE: There will be extra work to complete between sessions - the two sessions are intentionally a couple of weeks apart to give you plenty of time for quilting!

Supplies:
Finished quilt top - aim for a table runner or smaller sized (baby, lap) quilt
Batting - 100% cotton, 80:20% cotton/polyester blend (this is my personal preference for price and loft),
bamboo, wool - make sure it is around 6” bigger than your quilt in both directions
Backing fabric - again this should be 6-8” bigger than your quilt in both directions
Basting spray (I use Odif 505) and/or curved safety pins
Painter’s tape (useful when basting, and potentially when quilting!)
Quilting thread - you may want to buy this in store after we talk about options
Walking foot attachment for your sewing machine (usually has to be bought as an extra accessory)
Fabric for making binding - should compliment the front, only 1⁄4-1⁄2 yard needed
Fabric for making hanging sleeve - often the same as backing, only 1⁄4-1⁄2 yard needed

Other tools needed:
Rotary cutter (with fresh blade)
6”x24” ruler (if you have a large square ruler bring that too, but don’t rush out to buy one... yet!)
Sewing machine (with walking foot) and needles
Extension table (if you have one for your machine, this extra workspace is invaluable, but we’ll talk about
alternatives if you don’t have one... yet!)
Washable marking pen or pencil for drawing quilting designs (optional)
Snips or small scissors and seam ripper
