Quilt Binding Masterclass

You will learn how to make continuous binding strips with mitred joins, how to achieve perfectly neat mitred corners and how to have the binding ‘full’ and consistent! Thursday September 3, 4:30 - 7:30pm.
We will be working on three different binding techniques:
- Machine sewn on back and front
- Machine sewn onto front and handsewn on back
- Flanced binding with accent strip
Materials required:
Please bring three prepared quilt ‘sandwiches.' I recommend something simple rather than an actual project as we’ll be working on techniques and learning key skills.
Each ‘sandwich’ should be around 15” x 15”.
There are lots of online tutorials and video guides, and these little ‘sandwiches’ are the perfect chance to practice your machine or even free motion quilting! Please ask me if you need help with this!
Fabric for the different bindings - 1⁄4 yard (x4)
Other tools needed:
Sewing machine (in working order!), inc. power cord, foot pedal, walking foot, extension table, extra needles
Neutral coloured thread and matching thread in bobbin (or match it to the colour of your binding)
Rotary cutter and quilting rulers - I commonly use 61⁄2 x 61⁄2”, 6 x 12”, 6 x 24”, and a 1 x 6” is really useful here!
Basic sewing tools (small scissors or snips, stiletto, seam ripper, pins, marking tool...)
Sewing/binding clips
Roxanne’s Glue-Baste It
Paper and pencil for note taking
