Lisa the Unicorn with Bee Saunders

Cutting and piecing will be completed during the first class. You’ll do the quilting at home (with guidance) and by the end of the second session you’ll have a beautiful wall-hanging or pillow cover! Or, make four and turn it into a small quilt! The project is entirely rotary-cut and traditionally pieced, requiring no paper-piecing. Sat. August 22nd, 10am - 4pm & Saturday August 29th, 10am - 1pm.

Finished size (as shown): 26” x 26” (wall hanging/pillow)

You will need to buy the pattern Lisa the Unicorn by Elizabeth Hartman, available in store. 

Fabric required:

Colourful fabric for mane, horn and nostrils - 6-15 fabrics, each 2 ½” wide (precut jelly roll strips?!)
¾ yard for block background - a solid, or a non-directional, tone-on-tone print
1 yard backing fabric, including extra for the hanging sleeve
¼ yard binding fabric
Batting measuring at least 30” x 30” - I like an 80:20 cotton:polyester
Zipper or buttons and additional 1 yard backing fabric (if you wish to make a pillow cover)

Other tools needed:

Sewing machine (in good working order), including power cord, foot pedal, basic ¼” piecing foot, walking foot, extension table, extra needles Neutral coloured thread for piecing, as well as desired quilting thread, and matching thread in bobbin
Rotary cutter, large cutting mat and quilting rulers - I most commonly use 6½x6½”, 6x12” and 6x24”
Basic sewing tools (small scissors or snips, stiletto, seam ripper, pins, marking tool…)
Roxanne’s Glue-Baste It
Safety pins or spray for basting (or fusible batting)
Paper and pencil for note taking
